ABSTRACT

The particularities of scientific journals today, in terms of processes, results and acting subjects that guarantee their materialization and sustainability make them an object of study of undeniable complexity from the organizational point of view, all of which reveals the unavoidable need to proper management. However, this perspective is not very common in specialized scientific literature, which implies a detailed search of the contributions made up to now. The objectives of the study were oriented to analyze, from the bibliometric point of view, the management of processes in scientific journals, in order to help reveal the trends that have characterized their treatment in the scientific community and thereby lay the foundations for further studies. An analysis was carried out on the management of processes in scientific journals, using the search strategy "title"-"abstract"-"key words" until 2022, in Scopus, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar and SciELO databases. Analysis and synthesis, hermeneutic-dialectical and holistic-dialectical methods were used as theoretical methods; as empirical methods, documentary review and bibliometric analysis. Different bibliometric indicators were evaluated and contrasted: article productivity, authorial productivity and collaboration, occurrences, co-occurrences of keywords, among others. It was possible to determine that, although the issue of process management in scientific journals has aroused growing interest in the international scientific community, it has been little discussed in general literature and from the perspective of organizational management.

ABSTRACT

Abstract This study develops a literature review based on bibliometric analysis on the theme of transparency and accountability within the scope of governance of public hospitals, seeking to identify research lines, theories, research methods, and existing gaps through the analysis of scientific publications until 2020. The investigation followed the theoretical lens of transparency and accountability in the public sector to understand its framework within the scope of the governance of hospitals. Using the Bibliometrix software, and after the consultation process of the articles published in the Scopus and WoS databases, a sample with 118 articles was selected. It was found that, in the period between 2017-2020, approximately 85% of the publications were qualitative, and there is a growing trend in the study of transparency and accountability within the scope of governance of public hospitals. Transparency often appears interconnected with the accountability of agents (accountability), external communication policies (public reports), internal communication policies, and their comprehensibility. The predominance of publications of North American and Chinese origin was also noted. The study also identifies the scarcity of research using quantitative models that explore dependency relationships between the dimensions studied, limiting the comprehensibility of the interdependence between transparency practices and organizations' internal and external attributes. The study contributes to the knowledge about the interactions between transparency, accountability, and reporting within the scope of governance of public hospitals.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo review the development history of research on people with disabilities, summarize the patterns, characteristics and deficiencies in this discipline, and make suggestions for discipline development in the future. MethodsThe literature about disability from 1986 to 2018 were searched and retrieved on the CNKI. Valid literature were selected based on the title and abstract. Descriptive analyses were used to analyze the development of research on people with disabilities in China. VOSviewer was used to explore the cooperation among researchers and research hotspots in this field. ResultsA total of 2 267 papers were included. Researches on people with disabilities in China started in 1986 and then experienced rapid development driven by survey data, showing obvious stage characteristics. The foundation of academic cooperation networks has been formed initially, showing the comprehensive development of multiple themes. However, in the new stage, the lack of follow-up support for research infrastructure conditions, as well as the slow innovation of research theories and expansion of research contents may become key factors hindering the further development of the discipline. ConclusionThe research foundation should be consolidated in the future, including broadening cooperation and communication channels, strengthening disability statistics, and promoting cross-disciplinary research. Theoretical research should be strengthened by standardizing research methods and finding internalized theoretical innovation points combining the national conditions. Finally, research content should be enriched, especially by closely combining the current changes in the needs of people with disabilities and strengthening the research on disability prevention and control, health promotion, social integration, and social management of the people with disabilities.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Introduction: Bibliometric analyses of research in Sri Lanka, a lower-middle income island nation in South Asia, has focused mainly on medical research, concluding that there is a need for increased research productivity and impact, and for local solutions to health concerns. There has been no general bibliometric analysis across scientific disciplines in the nation, or any study that covers a long period of time to identify general time trends. Objective: To measure and analyse Sri Lanka research by focusing on subjects, authors, institutions, journals and citation for half a century. Methods: We used an advanced search method to extract publications with the word "Sri Lanka" in the SCI-EXPANDED, and calculated indicators such as total citations from Web of Science Core Collection since publication year to the end of 2019, citations in 2019, and mean citations per publication. Journal data were taken from 2019 Journal Citation Report. Affiliation re-classification was done to ensure consistency regarding the origin of all publications. Publications were further analysed based on collaboration, and first and corresponding authorship. Results: We retrieved 16 069 publications in 19 document types (77 % articles). Corrections had the highest number of authors per publication (616) followed by articles (116). Four articles had more than 5 000 authors and 593 articles had more than 1 000 authors. The highest citations in this database were for international megaprojects where Sri Lanka authors played minor roles. The UK had the most collaborative articles with Sri Lanka (19 %). The articles were published in 3 051 journals across 177 Web of Science categories. The category of Public, environmental and occupational health, with 193 journals, had 6.7 % of all articles, followed by environmental sciences (6.6 %). Conclusion: Sri Lanka has an unusually strong pattern of participating as small role players in international megaprojects about health and physics. Sri Lanka authors should be encouraged to expand their horizons by researching non-applied fields that are the basis of all innovation; to strengthen their own journals so that they have better visibility and impact, and to improve their positions in international projects that are published in larger journals.

ABSTRACT

SUMMARY: The study and teaching of human anatomy is one of the cornerstones of education of basis science in health professionals. The aim of this study was to present a bibliometric analysis of the global outputs of research on the teaching and learning of human anatomy in the last two decades. The Scopus database was used to search and retrieve studies related to this topic between 2001 and February 10, 2021. A total of 10,481 documents were found through a systematic search strategy. A growing trend in publishing research results was evidenced, starting in 2001 with a considerable increase between 2012 and 2015. Four clusters were identified in studies related to teaching-learning methodologies of human anatomy. These clusters correspond to traditional methods and emerging methodologies such as the use of information and communication technologies, 3D impressions and diagnostic images. In addition, the results of this study indicate that the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany were the countries with the highest production in the number of publications on this topic. Although new methodologies have been included in teaching and learning human anatomy, such as the use of information and communication technologies, the trend in these processes continues to be mediated by the traditional method of cadaveric dissection. However, there is an increase in the immersion of virtual resources as part of these methodologies that should be integrated.

ABSTRACT

Indigenous knowledge is one of the most notable traditional sources about plants used to treat diseases. Thus, the aim of this study was to describe the botanical features and to investigate the pharmacological properties of plants used by the Kantaruré-Batida community to treat intestinal parasitosis. Botanical characterization was performed based on integrative review andon access to 'Flora do Brasil' platform, whereas plants' pharmacological properties were investigated through systematic review. Among the 21 ethnospecies used, 48% were described as having activity against intestinal parasites. Although 52% had no such activity described, other properties can account for their use, that indicates that further studies are required. Therefore, this review reinforces the importance of valuing indigenous knowledge as tool to guide antiparasitic agent trials.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Introduction Sickle cell disease is an autosomal recessive genetic disease caused by a single point mutation in the β-globin chain of the hemoglobin. It has been recognized by the World Health Organization as a public health priority since 2006. Methods The Scopus database was used in this study with the search descriptors: "sickle cell" and "sickle cell disease". We applied common bibliometric indicators to evaluate the trend in scientific literature in sickle cell disease research. Results We retrieved a total of 19,921 pieces of scientific literature in the repertoire from 1997 to 2017. The Price law was fulfilled in the trend of production of scientific literature on SCD as the growth of scientific literature was more exponential (r = 0.9751; r2 = 0.9509) than linear (r = 0.9721; r2 = 0.9449). We observed a duplication time of 4.52 years. The Bradford core was made up of 69 journals with Blood at the top, publishing the greatest number of articles. The most productive institutions were mostly United States agencies and hospitals. The United States was the most productive country. The National Institute of Health was the most productive institution and also had the highest number of citations. Vichinsky E was the most productive author, while the most cited article was published by Circulation. Conclusion The growth of scientific literature in Sickle cell disease was found to be high. However, the exponential growth trend shows a "yet-to-be-explored" area of research. This study will be useful for physicians, researchers, research funders and policy-cum-decision makers.
